How to make a customer statement for a B2B company in Shopify
Shopify's invoices are per order, so to give a company a statement of everything it owes, export its unpaid orders from the Orders page and lay them out with due dates and balances. An app such as Remit makes the same statement as a PDF in one click.
What a statement shows
- Your business name and the statement date.
- The company the statement is for.
- Each unpaid order: number, PO number, order date, due date, order total, balance due and days overdue.
- Totals by age (not yet due, 1–30, 31–60, 61–90, over 90 days) and the total due.
Build one from an order export
- From your Shopify admin, go to Orders and filter to the company's unpaid orders.
- Click Export, choose those orders, and export as CSV.
- In a spreadsheet, keep one row per order: Name, Created at, Payment terms, Next payment due at and Total.
- Work out days overdue from the due date, add up the totals, and save the sheet as a PDF.
Watch out for part-paid orders
Check part-paid orders by hand: the export's Total is the order total, and its Outstanding Balance column only appears if the Shopify POS sales channel is installed. Orders with several line items take several rows in the export.
Download it in one click
Remit reads a company's unpaid B2B orders straight from Shopify and makes the statement for you, in the currency the company was charged in, with each order's balance due and an aging summary. It only reads your orders and never emails your customers: you send the PDF yourself.
