How to send payment reminders for overdue B2B orders in Shopify
Shopify can send payment reminder emails automatically for orders with payment terms: go to Settings > Notifications, then Manage payment reminders, and add up to five reminders, on the due date or up to 30 days after it. For a single order, you can also send an invoice from the order page.
Turn on automatic reminders
You can create up to five reminders. They aren't sent for orders with purchase options such as subscriptions, pre-orders or try-before-you-buy.
- From your Shopify admin, go to Settings > Notifications.
- In the Orders section, in the Payment reminder section, click Manage payment reminders.
- Click Add payment reminder.
- Choose On due date or When payment is overdue, and how many days after the due date.
- Click Turn on.
Send an invoice for one order
The invoice links to a checkout page where the customer can pay.
- From your Shopify admin, go to Orders and open the order.
- Click Collect payment > Send invoice.
- Add a message, click Review invoice, then Send invoice.
Chase a company for everything it owes
Reminders and invoices go out order by order. When a company has several unpaid orders, a statement that lists them all, with due dates, balances and totals by age, gives them one document to pay against. You can build one from an order export (see How to make a customer statement), or download one in a click with an app such as Remit.
