How Net 30 payment terms work in Shopify B2B
In Shopify B2B, Net 30 means a company has 30 days from the day the order is placed to pay. You set terms per company or company location (net 7, 15, 30, 45, 60 or 90, due on fulfillment, or none), and an order that isn't paid by its due date becomes Overdue.
The terms you can choose
- No payment terms: payment is due immediately (the default).
- Net 7, 15, 30, 45, 60 or 90: payment is due that many days after the order is placed.
- Due on fulfillment: payment is due once every item in the order is fulfilled.
- Fixed date: payment is due on a chosen calendar date (on individual draft orders).
Set terms for a company location
You can also set terms for a whole company, or for several companies at once from the Companies page with Edit payment terms.
- From your Shopify admin, go to Customers > Companies.
- Click the company, then the location in the Locations section.
- In the Payment terms section, click the edit icon.
- Choose a payment term and click Save.
When payment is late
Customers can pay any time before the due date by opening the order in their customer account and clicking Pay now. After the due date they can still pay, but the order shows as Overdue. Shopify doesn't charge a saved card automatically when terms expire: you capture the payment yourself.
Shopify can email payment reminders on the due date and up to 30 days after it (Settings > Notifications).
Which plans include it
Shopify B2B, including net payment terms and payment reminders, is available on the Basic, Grow, Advanced and Plus plans, but not on Starter or Retail. Deposits and partial payments are Shopify Plus only.
